Mosques

The Noble Prophet's Mosque

In the Prophet’s Noble Mosque, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has given care and attention to the Noble Prophet’s Mosque in implementing expansions throughout the ages, as it is expected that the Prophet’s Noble Mosque, after the end of the current expansion, will be able to accommodate 1.6 million worshipers by the year 2040 AD.

The Quba Mosque

The Quba Mosque has a great status in Islamic history, as it is mentioned in the Qur’an as the mosque that was built on “piety”. It is also one of the sites that have merit in visiting and praying in it. It has undergone many expansions and currently accommodates 20,000 worshipers. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has launched the grand expansion project, which aims to increase the area of the mosque by 10 times, to raise the capacity and develop the surrounding historical sites.

The Qiblatain Mosque

It is considered one of the oldest mosques, and was given this name in relation to the historical event when the Prophet - May God bless him and grant him peace - turned the qiblah in compliance with the order of revelation towards the Kaaba. The Qiblatain Civilization Center project was launched to take care of the mosque's historical dimension and increase the capacity of the Qiblatain Mosque, in addition to the construction of a pedestrian bridge, bus and car parks, arenas for activities, a cultural and information center, an exhibition building and a commercial center. The Qiblatain Center project aims to expand the mosque in line with Vision 2030.

The Trench Area (The Seven Mosques)

One of the most important shrines for visitors to Madinah, as this area is considered the command center of the Battle of the Trench, and there are seven historical mosques in it, the most important of which is the Al-Fateh Mosque, which was built recently, in addition to a number of historical mosques that were named after the companions who participated in digging the trench. These mosques are characterized by their small size, unique designs, and diverse architecture.

The Miqat Mosque

The Miqat Mosque is one of the most prominent historical sites in Madinah, and it is one of the places designated by the Prophet - may God bless him and grant him peace - for those who want to perform Hajj or Umrah, and it is the miqat of the people of Madinah and those who pass through it on their way to Mecca. In view of the historical status that the Miqat Mosque occupies, it is visited by large numbers of pilgrims for Hajj and Umrah, and the surrounding area has been beautified and provided with all the necessary facilities, so that the Miqat Mosque becomes an integrated station for travelers.

Al Jum'ah Mosque

The Madinah hosts many historical mosques associated with the Noble Prophet’s biography, including Al Jum'ah Mosque, which the first Friday prayer was made at its location by the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, after his migration to Madinah. The mosque can accommodate more than 650 worshipers and has a large dome on which Surah Al-Jumu’ah was exquisitely written. The mosque has recently been renovated and restored as part of the Historic Mosques Reconstruction Program.

Al-Ijabah Mosque

An ancient historical mosque built during the era of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. It was called Al-Ijabah Mosque because God Almighty responded to the prayer of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, in it.

As-Saqiya Mosque

As-Saqiya Mosque was built in the place of prayer of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when he left for the Battle of Badr. The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed in this place for the blessing of the people of Madinah. The reason for naming the As-Saqiya Mosque by this name is due to its location near the (As-Saqiya Well). As-Saqiya Mosque is located in Madinah within the walls of the railway station, and is currently opposite the building of the Municipality of Madinah.

Al-Ghamama Mosque

It is located on the southwestern side of the Prophet's Mosque, 500 meters from Bab Al-Salam. It is the last place in which the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, prayed the two Eid prayers and the prayer for rain, and it was called Al-Ghamama Mosque because it was said that a cloud obscured the sun from the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, when he prayed in it.

Al-Sajdah Mosque

Al-Sajdah Mosque is one of the mosques nearby and close to the Noble Prophet’s Mosque. It was called the Al-Sajdah Mosque because the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, prostrated in it for a long time. It is called the Masjid al-Shukr because of the prostration of the Prophet in which was a prostration of gratitude, and it is called al-Buhairi Mosque because it is located near the palm grove known as al-Buhair.

Mountains, valleys and volcanoes of Madinah

Mount Uhud

Mount Uhud is the largest and most prominent of the mountains of Madinah, which God Almighty willed to make it one of the best mountains on earth and favored it and made it one of the mountains of Paradise. Visitors coming to Madinah are keen to visit Mount Uhud because it is one of the historical monuments that witnessed great historical events, the most important of which was the Battle of Uhud. The "Uhud Avenue" project was launched with the aim of developing the road linking the Noble Prophet's Mosque, Sayyid al-Shuhada Square and Mount Uhud.

Uhud Martyrs Square and Archers Hill

One of the most important historical monuments that visitors are keen to visit, as the place witnessed the battle of Uhud between the armies of the Muslims and the infidels, and the martyrs’ cemetery contains the bodies of 70 companions who were martyred in the eternal battle, the most famous of them is Hamzah bin Abdul Muttalib, the uncle of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace (Sayyid al-Shuhada). One of the most important features of the site is the "Sayyid al-Shuhada" mosque, which was built with a distinct architectural style on an area of more than 54,000 square meters, to accommodate about 15,000 worshipers. It contains various support services and facilities, including surrounding parking spaces, and is located opposite to "Archers Hill", which is a prominent landmark at the top of which the battle took place..

Rahat lava field

Rahat lava field is one of 12 volcanic fields distributed throughout the Kingdom. The lava field alone includes 700 volcanic cones and was classified as part of a project as the first open geological park in Saudi Arabia, by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage.

Al-Aqiq Valley

It is one of the most famous valleys of Madinah, and it has gained its fame due to its association with the noble Prophet biography, may God bless him and grant him peace, which was called the Blessed Valley. Historical writings indicate that Al-Aqiq Valley was, in some eras, like an ever-flowing river. The Environmental Rehabilitation Project for Al-Aqiq Valley has been launched by the Madinah Region Development Authority. It is a strategic project that accommodates all the elements of Al-Aqiq Valley in terms of preserving its natural environment as well as developing and rehabilitating it to achieve the desired balance in benefiting from its features.

Al Figrah Mountain

Al Figrah is a contiguous mountain range in a longitudinal line that looks almost exactly like the vertebrae of the spine, and this is likely why it is called Al Figrah. Al Figrah height is approximately 1,901 meters above sea level. It is an area with mild weather in the summer and very cold in the winter. Therefore, it has become an area of attraction for the people and visitors of Madinah, and the tourism movement there has increased. Tourist sites in Al Figrah attract the lenses of photographers and amateurs to capture the magnificent views of the cloud masses embracing the peaks of its mountains.

Dar Al Madinah Museum

Dar Al Madinah Museum for Architectural and Cultural Heritage is the first specialized museum to display the cultural and Islamic history of Madinah, and to show the features of the historical era in which the Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, lived by presenting details of the features of the Prophet’s biography and Islamic heritage as well as the urban and civil culture of Madinah.

Holy Quran Gallery

The Holy Quran Gallery is located in the façade of the green dome in front of Bab Al-Salam, which leads to Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifah, on an area of 1,500 square meters. The gallery aims to introduce people to God Almighty's Holy Quran through the museum's presentation method which exhibit accurate content through wide array of technologies, and to highlight the historical and modern efforts of the Saudi state in caring for the Holy Quran.

God's Beautiful Names Gallery

It is a permanent gallery located in Madinah, west of the Noble Prophet’s Mosque. The gallery exhibit God's Beautiful Names and invites its visitors to meditate and reflect on His names, through a system of paintings and modern display techniques to enhance faith in God Almighty and make the visitor utter His names with praise and glorification.

The International Fair and Museum of the Prophet's Biography and Islamic Civilization

The International Fair and Museum of the Prophet's Biography is concerned with the comprehensive cultural awareness of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, through the latest technologies under the supervision of the Muslim World League. The contents and collections of the museum represent a historical legacy that stems from it to spread the prophet's true teachings and deeds to the whole world, and to demonstrate the tolerance and moderation of the true Islamic religion. The museum includes 25 main pavilions to view the features of the life of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and to introduce all the prophets.

Hejaz railway station

The historic Hejaz Railway Station in Madinah is located west of the Noble Prophet’s Mosque, which was established in 1908 AD to expedite the travel of Muslim pilgrims from Damascus to the holy cities of Mecca and Madinah. The station was converted into an archaeological museum in the year 1419 AH, and the museum opened its doors to all visitors from everywhere in order to enjoy all the treasures it contains from that time period.
